Somewhere two hundred miles southeast of Los Angeles, forty meters below sea level, a commune of outcasts lives in the middle of the desert. Not a hippie colony, just some people who have turned their backs on society. Documentary maker Gianfranco Rosi does not give any explanation, but lets the images and the people speak for themselves.
