Balkan Melodie plot

The film tells the story of Marcel Cellier, who traveled to Eastern Europe where he collected and documented musical sounds hitherto unknown in the west. They made this music internationally known and opened the way for internationally renowned musicians such as the Romanian pan flute virtuoso Gheorghe Zamfir and the legendary Bulgarian female vocal choir 'Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares'. Following in Cellier's footsteps, documentary maker Stefan Schwietert travels back to Eastern Europe to seek out the protagonists of the past and to bring the richness of their music back to life. A story that tells of the changes of people and their environment, as well as the immortality of their timeless music.
