Back in Berlin plot

Shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War, fifteen-year-old Edgar Lax, a Jewish boy from Berlin, managed to flee to England via Amsterdam. However, his parents were murdered in Auschwitz in 1943. Edgar never talks about his past, but after his death his son Bobby finds a suitcase full of letters, documents and photos. He turns to Manuel, his childhood friend who also has a German background, and asks him to translate the documents.
