Autobahn plot

Spa town of Bad Oeynhausen: Thousands of trucks daily roll through the city center and on Bundesstraße 61, the street that connects the A2 and A30 motorways and the metropolises of Warsaw and Rotterdam respectively. When the rejection of the status “Kurort” threatens and with it the loss of the inviting title “Bad”, something has to change: a bypass has to be built. Over a period of eight years, the film documents the traffic jam very closely: the work of the mayor, the police, the fire brigade and construction companies, the delays in the delivery of the “Nordumfahrung” and above all the reactions of the affected residents.
