Atman plot
As a tribute to their late mother, two Indian brothers embark on a 6000km pilgrimage from the holy river Ganges to the holy city of Haridwar in the Himalayas. One of the two brothers is married and takes his wife and children with him on the long journey. Divided into seven 'chapters', "Atman" (soul) follows the company on their pilgrimage, painting an intense picture of religious India. At the center of the film is the unmarried brother Jamana Lal, a deeply religious Hindu, who has been paralyzed in his legs and hunchbacked since childhood. According to his religious belief, his deformed body is the punishment of the gods for his bad behavior in a past life.
