Amongst White Clouds plot

It's a lifestyle that was thought to be lost, but American director Edward A. Burger takes us on a journey of discovery to a Zen Buddhist hermit community in the Chinese mountain region of Zhongnan. This area of Shaanxi Province was once a sanctuary for Taoist monks. Zealots, emaciated ascetics and wise masters have been sheltered here for more than five thousand years. Burger managed to gain access to these hermits and gives us a glimpse of their traditions, wisdom, hardships and the joy of everyday life. With humor and compassion, these hermits invite us to also reflect on our own suffering in the modern world.
