Among the Palms the Bomb, Or: Looking for Reflections in the Toxic Field of Plenty plot

Salton Sea is the largest lake in California. Dead fish, plants, and insects pile up along the edges of the lake. Derek is a resident of this region and belongs to the Cahuilla tribe, a tribe that was forced to move toward the Salton Sea in the 19th century to escape persecution. The Cahuilla see themselves as protectors of this area, which is steadily deteriorating and becoming drier.
