From July 1993 to February 1996, Raymond Depardon traveled across Africa. From the far south, where he shot a silent Nelson Mandela, he successively crossed Angola, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Somalia, Kenya, Sudan, Chad and Niger to arrive at the Egyptian Nile. Many countries on the African continent have been torn apart by drought, hunger, disease and bloody wars.
