Adeus, Capitão plot

For decades, filmmaker Vincent Carelli kept returning to his friend, the late 'Captain' Krohokrenhum, the leader of the Gavião people in Brazil's Amazon. As a white outsider, Carelli took the time to gain his trust. That long-term involvement resulted in this multifaceted and layered portrait of Krohokrenhum's life and suffering under the kupen – the Gavião word for the white settlers. From the deadly diseases they brought with them to the escalating struggles with neighboring peoples under the pressure of the rapidly shrinking territory.
