À Côté plot

This documentary is a good occasion for a discussion about the relations between the penal institutions and their environment. Most new prisons are located in peripheral areas. The future prison 'village' in Haren (which replaces and merges the prisons of Sint-Gillis, Vorst and Berkendaal) is an example of this trend. But doesn't the disappearance of the prison from the urban centers create a double incarceration for the inmates, who are further removed from their families and lawyers, and banned from view of the city?
