5x Mijn Kamer plot

In the early eighties, the then fourteen-year-old filmmaker Tamara Miranda lived in rooms in the Verhulst, a home for working and studying girls in Amsterdam. Based on five portraits of women who have lived in the same room in the home in different periods, the documentary provides a picture of growing up in a girls' home. Are girls who live in a home difficult to educate? What is it like to live in a hostel, and can a hostel ever become a home?
