Two in a Taxi plot

Jimmy Owens is an independent cab driver. He tries to survive with his own taxi despite the competition from the big taxi companies. Jimmy is in love with Bonnie, but their romance is thwarted by Bonnie's brother-in-law Sid. Sid is a pragmatic button salesman who prefers his sister-in-law to be with his best customer Bill Gratton. One day, Jimmy tells one of his passengers about the difficult times independent taxi drivers have, especially through Captain Melton, the head of the city's taxi agency. Unbeknownst to Jimmy, his passenger is a journalist who publishes his story, which gets him into trouble with Melton.
