The Silk-Lined Burglar plot
"It's the Newest Boston Blackie Story"
A gentleman and crook named Boston Blackie answers an ad for an expert safe cracker, placed by Doris Macon, who claims moral title to the safe's contents. She then hires Blackie and then they break into the house where the safe is kept. On site, Blackie blows up the safe, but does so just as owner Captain von Hoffmeier returns home.
