At the funeral of her murdered son Michael [Michael Harrison], Marissa [Hilary Swank] discovers that Michael's girlfriend Paige [Olivia Cooke] is pregnant. Michael was a heroin junkie and Marissa holds Paige partly responsible for her son's death. But when the police investigation into Michael's death goes nowhere, Marissa realizes Paige may be able to help her discover why Michael was killed. And by who. Unremarkable crime drama survives because of the good performances of the two protagonists.

Woman, tormented, mother, journalist or writer, pretends to smoke a cigarette with a son who imitates her. Eventually, she lights a real cigarette after all. I can't make much more of it. A difficult experience, with too many flaws and alcohol.
