A fine thriller set in a quirky little village somewhere in Poland; religion plays a role in a case of child abuse and murder. The roles are well acted and the film remains suspenseful until the end. Ultimately, I didn't find the resolution that strong.

A rock-solid police thriller. A small village community with a big secret. A district attorney from the big city who, due to problems with superiors, is demoted to a rural village. A masked figure who kidnaps small children and locks them up in dark cellars. 'Kolory zla. Czern' (2026) is a collection of clichés from the thriller genre. The Polish countryside is certainly atmospheric, but it is all just a bit too tame to make an impression. It doesn't really help that the revelation seems to come out of nowhere and ultimately fizzles out. Although Leopold Bliski remains a likeable sleuth.

A rather mediocre Polish crime thriller of TV movie level revolving around child disappearances, child murders, and pedophilia in the fictional village of Trulocz. The TV movie quality means that everything is told with little style or effect. Basically just a dry story. Whodunnits are my thing, though, so for a large part of the film I was guessing who the villain was, but it all ends rather unspectacularly and the hints about superstition involving that 'woppie' lead to a dead end. There wasn't even a twist. A big step backward compared to the previous film.
