Klopka plot
Mladen and Marija, are a happy, very ordinary couple from Belgrade. They experience their greatest happiness through their ten-year-old son Nemanja. Marija is a teacher, and Mladen is a structural engineer in a State Construction Company. They believe that better times are ahead. Their world collapses when, after an unexpected heart attack, it turns out that Nemanja is suffering from a rare disease. The operation in a foreign hospital and further doctor's treatments will amount to 30,000 euros. They will need to amass this amount quickly, as each subsequent attack will endanger Nemanja's health. They can't get the money together. The banks refuse to give them a loan and their friends don't have enough. They put an advertisement in the newspapers, asking for a financial contribution for the operation. A mysterious man responds to the ad. He makes a striking proposal to Mladen; he gets the required amount from him, but in return Mladen has to eliminate a businessman of criminal caliber. The mysterious provider tries to explain it simply to Mladen: It involves the life of a barbaric, selfish man in exchange for the life of an innocent child.

Really good movie. The main character is very strong. The moment he's going to shoot that guy... It just seemed like I had to do it!

Klopka is a pretty strong social thriller. Very exciting at times. Gray atmospheric and melancholy in tone and a beautiful, pessimistic portrait of contemporary Serbia as the background. Great roles too, especially the lead.
It's a shame that the father's believable struggle in the film is disrupted by quite a few coincidences in the script. Unfortunately, that bites a bit with the tone of the film and most of them are also quite easy to avoid. With some movies I can have that, with others I can't. Here it pulled me out of the film so much at certain moments (especially when, after the offer of the money by the dead woman, the child also walks away from the intensive care unit) that I really blame the movie.
That brings me to 3.0*

Fascinating thriller about a man who is driven to an act of despair by a hopeless situation and in the aftermath finds himself in a knot with all the consequences that entails. The script is well put together with some very surprising twists that you don't see coming. The problem with the film, however, is that it is not easy to get any empathy for the protagonist.
After the haunting Krugovi (2013), which is in my top 10, my second film by Srdan Golubović, a director to watch to keep.
