Double Danger plot
Robert 'Bob' Crane is a smart jewel thief, who is also a novelist. Bob writes novels about a crafty jewel thief named 'The Gentleman', who the police were never able to catch. Police Inspector David Theron is a friend of the "novel writer" Bob Crane, and he suspects Bob may be the thief the police are looking for, but has found no evidence so far. Theron therefore sets a trap for his friend Bob, but unfortunately for him another, the jewel thief Carolyn Martin, is too quick for Bob.
