Reasonable film in which a young man tries to get out of the clutches of his criminal father. With the atmosphere and tone, this crime drama is fine. Unfortunately, the meager story is quite predictable and the characters are somewhat superficially developed (despite the excellent acting). There could have been more to this, but it doesn't get annoying and that's why just 3.0 stars.

Because his father Charlie [Billy Bob Thornton] is a criminal, young adult Jacob [Hopper Penn] is unable to find a job. Against the wishes of his mother [Robin Wright], Jacob starts working as a mechanic for the only person who will hire him: his father. It still turns out not to work by the book, leaving Jacob with a moral and deeply personal dilemma. Hopper Penn is certainly no Dennis and/or Shawn, but Bob Thornton once again portrays a memorable, intimidating villain in an otherwise unoriginal or uplifting crime drama.
