Between the Canals plot

The film follows a day in the lives of three petty criminals in downtown North Dublin. They each have their own ideas about what they want to mean in today's society. Liam (Hyland) is a small dealer who wants to take his own life to become an electrician and thus support his girlfriend and son. Dots (Coonan) is an unhinged, irresponsible crook who wants to become a major dealer. Scratchcard (Jones) is a drug user with no ambition, or it must be to live off the social services and watch life go by. But today it's St. Patrick's Day, and in Dublin that means unrest everywhere...
