Beating the Game plot

After breaking into the home of criminologist GB Lawson, safecracker Charlie believes he has robbed another thief. Out of professional courtesy, he informs his victim of the burglary. Instead of calling the police, Lawson makes a deal with the thief. Believing Charlie could earn more as an honest businessman, he lends him the money to start his own business. They will split the profits at the end of the year.
