Alibi für James plot

A misty country road somewhere in England. A cyclist is run over by a fast car. The car belongs to the famous racer, Marshal Armitt, but it is his brother James who borrowed the car. Marshal provides James with an alibi for the "time of the crime." James has to testify to the police that he was visiting his mother. The alibi appears to be conclusive at first.
