Your Uncle Dudley plot

"So funny — it's in the money!"

While his sister-in-law Mabel forces her daughter Ethel to practice for the 'Deepwater Music Contest', paint and varnish dealer Dudley Dixon receives another award from the 'Thursday Morning Club' for his efforts on behalf of their community in Fairview. Mabel insists that Ethel win the music competition so the two can travel to Europe with the grand prize of $5,000, the same amount Dudley has owed Mabel for fifteen years. Meanwhile, community leaders plan a big money-making boxing event, with their 'committee of one', Dudley, doing all the work. Dudley neglects his duties to work on these community issues, much to the chagrin of both Mabel and Christine Saunders, his secretary and lover. The necessary complications follow.
