We Moderns plot

Mary Sundale rebels against the Victorian upbringing of her dull aristocratic parents Sir Robert and Lady Kitty Sundale. Although she is attracted to the civilian and engineer John Ashlar, Mary prefers an exciting life. She falls in love with married author Oscar Pleat, who believes he is a gift from God to women. Mary's parents have her locked up in her room by their butler, but she manages to escape. Mary then goes out with her friends in London, but John Ashlar follows her.
