Village Barn Dance plot

Graduated but unemployed engineer Dan Martin ends up looking for a job in the town of Lyndale. He finds out that everything that happens in this town is dominated by the tight-lipped old miser Minerva Withers, who doesn't welcome bums. Hungry, Dan joins a group of high school students at Uncle Si's ice cream parlor, where he meets Minerva's granddaughter Betty Withers. A friendship develops between the two that displeases Betty's snobbish friend James Rutherford.
