"Love works in canine ways."
Just after Helen and her husband Paul return home from their daughter Aly's move to her student house, he delivers the unexpected news that he wants a divorce. Helen is unsure of how to move forward and struggles with her new single status. When a cute stray dog shows up on her doorstep, Helen reluctantly takes him in. He provides her with welcome company and also leads her to Ben, a veterinarian who helps her through her first experiences with dog ownership. Helen slowly steps out of her comfort zone, rediscovers her inner strength and begins to rebuild her life as she embarks on a new path full of promise and possibilities.
