John Hathaway is a psychology professor at Digby College. Unable to captivate his students, he leaves school to go to New York. There, John writes a manuscript about jealousy, which he then plans to publish. John and his attractive wife Julie go to the publishing house Elliott Morgan to discuss John's book plans with Nellie Woods. It soon becomes clear that during the presentations of John's book everyone, including Elliott, is more impressed by Julie than by the book. Elliott's assistant Nellie is more interested in John than in his book. Meanwhile, Julie worries about John, but he thinks he knows all about jealousy. After all, he did publish a book about jealousy...
