The Big Shot plot
"HE MAKES STOCKS RISE---AND WOMEN FALL!"
Ray Smith is a bold but incredibly naive real estate speculator who tries to impress his girlfriend Doris with his plans to make money. Scammers convince him to put his money in worthless swampland. When the land turns out to harbor a profitable sulfur spring, the villains keep it a secret and try to buy the land back for an outrageously low amount.
