RP Moody, owner of a comic book publishing company, has been struggling with his health for some time, which worries his daughter Betty. In desperation, his family doctor calls in the help of Dr. Svatsky from Prague, who discovers that he has not laughed for a long time and is suffering from a severe form of melancholy. Betty and cartoonist Tim Jones hire various artists to make him laugh again, but that is easier said than done.
