Take a Chance plot

Wanda Hill has had enough of performing a striptease act at small town fairgrounds. She leaves her boyfriend and pickpocket Duke Stanley and his criminal partners Louie Webb and Toni Ray, and then she leaves for Broadway. Wanda advises Toni to leave Duke and Louie, but they promise to obey the law. Both become croupiers at Mike Caruso's Greenwich Village club. Toni gets a job as a singer with Caruso and all three share their income. One day, Wanda visits Caruso's club with her theater producer Kenneth Raleigh to see Toni perform and he immediately falls in love with her.
