Spuit Elf plot

Thanks to his performance in a farm fire, the young, gullible Dreas is assigned to the local fire department, which awakens all kinds of ambitions in him. He erects primitively constructed watchtowers everywhere and reaps some successes, partly thanks to the activities of a pyromaniac. He is then allowed to follow a course at the fire academy in Maastricht. Back in his village, he fails in a fire at the local bakery that causes everything to go haywire. Removed from office, he finds new employment as a market trader with a fire extinguisher invented by him.
