Sea Legs plot
"Oh for the life of a sailor when the battleship's one big boudoir! it's a gloom Destroyer!"
'Searchlight' Doyle, US Navy lightweight boxing champion, is inducted into the fleet of Sainte Cassette, an island republic. This is to replace a rich slacker who must serve his country to receive a $2 million inheritance, a scheme devised by lawyer Gabriel Grabowski. Doyle must then pretend to be the slacker in question. All of his shipmates assume he is the person he claims to be, except Hyacinth Nitouche. Doyle subsequently falls in love with Adrienne, the most beautiful of the captain's daughters, and tries to win her affection.
