Six years and eleven months ago, the superstitious composer Heinz Kersten broke a mirror. He doesn't want to propose to his beloved Gerti until the entire seven unlucky years have passed. During all this time, his best friend Paul, in the capacity of a servant, will keep an eye on Gerti so that marital bliss for the couple will remain possible.
