Road to the Open plot
A man tries to help his best friend and doubles tennis partner Jerry out of the daily grind of his life by trying to get him into a national tennis tournament. Jerry McDonald has become a recluse after he lost his wife to breast cancer. Raising his 10-year-old daughter is his sole purpose in life, aside from tennis's semi-social outlet with his childhood friend, Miles, who lives on a tennis court in an Airstream trailer.
