After yet another rejection, aspiring songwriter Judy Walker stumbles upon the idea of posing as the niece of successful songwriter Phil Hale, so that she can have access to his luxury apartment during his temporary absence. But it doesn't stop there. She pretends to be working with Hale, which quickly lands her work at a radio station, where she connects with lyricist and singer Bob McKay. Everything runs smoothly until Phil Hale suddenly returns to his apartment.
