"The Laugh Sensation of the Season!"
Smiley Johnson runs the John T. Rainey Circus, which puts on a show twice a day. He works for Mary Rainey. She inherited the circus from her father. In addition to the ongoing bad weather and general discontent among the performers, Mary is constantly worried about money. Smiley tries to help her with this, but this is complicated by the fact that the artists have decided to go on strike.
