Pulkownik Kwiatkowski plot
Gynecologist Andrzej Kwiatkowski, against his will, joins the Polish army as a surgeon shortly after the war. While walking through devastated Warsaw, he encounters a woman with whom he makes a bet: if he manages to rescue a young man from prison, he can marry her, otherwise they will split up again. Kwiatkowski tries to free the man by posing as a high-ranking officer.
