Premier Bal plot

In the Basque Country, near Saint-Jean-de-Luz, lives an old inventor, Mr. Noblet, with his two daughters, Danielle and Nicole. The first is coquettish and only thinks about her appearance while the second is a simple girl, with a passion for nature and animals. Ernest Vilar, a shy young vet, loves Nicole but is afraid to tell her. Noblet gets sick. Jean, a young doctor who has a practice in Paris and is now on vacation in the area, takes care of him. He also befriends his two daughters. At a ball, Nicole realizes that she is in love with Jean, but Danielle beats her and has already asked him to marry her.
