Max Wharton is the editor of a New York newspaper, who in a fit of patriotism quits his job and enlists in the U.S. Army. His wife Paula is a successful screenwriter and she is not at all happy with this decision. Eventually she decides to follow Max to Florida, where his basic training takes place.
