One Wild Week plot

Pauline Hathaway turns eighteen. She is raised by her unmarried aunt and discovers that she is the heir to a small fortune, provided she keeps her name out of the newspapers for six months. She visits an old friend of her mother's and is falsely arrested for theft. After giving a fictitious name, she is sent to a women's re-education center.
