"The happiest show in town!"
History teacher Anton Larabee's fiancée, Letitia, insists that he will succeed his father as headmaster. However, the father states that Anton will first have to produce a high-quality scientific publication. Anton tries to make an archaeological piece of work, but a circus lands exactly at the site of the excavation. He befriends the trapeze artists and involuntarily discovers his talents as a clown. A relationship develops between Anton and the circus director's daughter, who wants them to get married. But Letitia is still there...
