Le Mois le Plus Beau plot

On May 10, 1940, Boromès, a carpenter and veteran of the First World War, returns to Saint-Bonnet, a small village in the east of France. It has just been demobilized. But he discovers that he will have to make a 15 km detour along a river, because the bridge that all the villagers have been waiting for twenty years has still not been built. Fortunately, there is the new pastor, a refugee from Alsace, who just passes with his motorcycle and takes him with him. The priest tells him that his daughter Rosine has given birth to a child and that the grandfather Besson, mayor of Saint-Bonnet, does not want to hear about a marriage of his son Bruno...
