Le Congrès des Belles-Mères plot
In a small town, all the mothers-in-law, who have decided to fight their sons-in-law, have gathered in an association. The president, Baroness de Courtebise, refuses to let her daughter-in-law marry because then the girl would inherit the property her husband left her. The pretender is the mayor's cousin. Madame de Courtebise decides to lock up her daughter-in-law. During the election campaign, the sons-in-law kidnap Madame de Courtebise and force her to consent to the marriage.
