Las Coronelas plot

A man's life is spared because he promises the twins his wife is pregnant with as future soldiers for the ludicrous General Nicolas Rosas. But when Father Silberio makes this promise, no one knows that his wife is pregnant with female twins. Immediately after their birth, Silberio, the capricious ferocity of the general in mind, spreads the lie that his twins are boys, named Saturnino and Nicolas. The only other people in the village who know the truth are the midwife and the priest. Years later, in their late teens, General Rosas returns from one of his campaigns to claim the "boys" as soldiers.
