La Braconne plot
About forty kilometers south-west of the Normandy port of Caen lies the village of Livarot. World War II is over and life is trying to resume its normal pattern. Jean is entrusted to his grandparents and gets to know his uncles André and Arthur closely. André, who is dull and serious, is mayor of the village. Arthur is a womanizer and a shrewd poacher, who will initiate Jean into his quasi-illegal activities. The two brothers can't air or see each other and André lurks for a chance to catch up with Arthur, but he always outsmarts him.
