In a small village in Saxony from 1792 lives the beautiful girl Eva, the dream of every man in the area. For example, the local judge Adam, or the blacksmith Ruprecht. So the two men can't stand each other. One night, Adam sneaks around Eve's parents' house, hoping to catch a glimpse of Eve in her room. But Ruprecht is also there and throws a pitcher at Adam's head. Adam can escape unnoticed in the darkness. Eva's mother is now suing Ruprecht for the broken jug and of course the 'case' ends up on Judge Adam's desk...
