Il Mantenuto plot

Daniela works as a prostitute. Unlike her "colleagues", she does not have a pimp. One evening she tells her competitors that a certain Stefano is her protector. Coincidentally, this Stefano is just strolling with his dog in the nearby park and knows nothing about Daniela's activities. She asks him if he would be so kind as to accompany her to the clinic where she works as a nurse. He agrees and asks for a date. He soon gets into serious trouble. He is beaten up by the "guardians" of the other women. The police then arrest him because they think he is a pimp. He loses his job and goes to work for a wealthy widow. But fate continues to haunt him...
