Hometown Boy Makes Good plot

Years ago, Boyd (Anthony Edwards) left his small hometown to study medicine in San Francisco. What he never told his parents is that he never finished his education. Yet he maintains the appearance of being a successful psychiatrist. When he returns home, it turns out that the misery-ravaged population is in need of a good shrink. Boyd's mother appeals to her son, who doesn't have the guts to tell the truth.
