F-Man plot
"A guy who wants to be a "G" man with Saturdays off!"
The naive and bumbling Johnny Dime leaves his hometown and his fiancée Molly Carter to pursue his dream of a career as a government agent in Los Angeles. Despite a letter containing a reference from his town's sheriff, the government isn't interested in hiring him. Molly has followed Johnny to Los Angeles to surprise him, but she finds out that he works as a soda clerk in a drugstore. Unable to bear the humiliation of not being a G-man, Johnny tells Molly that he is working undercover.
