Josef Košťál tells his fellow inmates about the events that led to his sentence. He has been a friend of František Koloušek since their early childhood. Despite growing up under identical circumstances, one will become a talented inventor and the other a villain. They complement each other in playing pranks that are increasingly serious in nature.
