Diplomacy plot

The story is set in Monte Carlo, where the impoverished Julian proposes marriage to the wealthy Dora, but is rejected by the girl's mother. A few years later, Julian not only succeeds in acquiring a huge fortune, but also holds a prominent position in the British diplomatic service. Julian is now a suitable husband for Dora and marries the girl. Unfortunately, their happiness proves to be short-lived.
